Oak Low Dresser

This low dresser is based on a 17th Century English provincial design. This piece is made from American White Oak and includes features not seen in most modern furniture construction, including hand cut dovetails, hand sculptured cabriole legs and traditional English hardware of handles and locks. No nails or screws are used in the construction of this piece and it has been hand polished with traditional stains made from walnut husks.

The dark crossbanding highlights around the draws are inlays of Ancient Redgum.
The Story of Ancient Murray River Redgum
These trees grew on the banks of the Murray River until they were felled by erosion between 5,000 and 10,000 years ago. These dates have been confirmed by radiocarbon dating at the Australian National University. The river waters left fine grained material deposits on the wood, which preserved the trees resulting in the ebonised colouration.
